Project CTF
A downloadable game
Project CTF is a first person shooter game with the goal to capture the flag of the enemy player by using strategies
The main objective of Project CTF is to capture all three flags from the enemy player’s base. Strategies will need to be made to take down or get pass the enemy player to capture their flag or to keep flags from being taken.
The setting of the game is set in a near future era. The battlefield will have a sci-fi feel to it with it being set in outer space in a small map. Strategies can be utilized using the small space and for players to be careful in reaching the flag.
Basic controls:
- WASD: Up, Left, Down, Right
- Space bar: Jump
- Mouse: Aim Gun
- Right Click: Fire Gun
- R: Reload
What went right with the game was being able to manage making a game with a small group. It took a while to get the multiplayer working and we got it working. As well as, trying the network sync with the health bar for the players and have it decrease when taking damage and setting up the score for both teams.
What went wrong with the game would be some difficulties with the multiplayer and not able to implement traps. The game was originally going to have the players set up traps like arrow trap, landmine, and poison trap to disrupt the enemy players and protect their flag. We made an early prototype of the traps but with a small development team we ran out of time.
The changes that were made to the game were the removal of the traps and a second map. The multiplayer was already difficult to get working and syncing things to the network and having much time to set the traps in. There was supposed to be two maps for the players to choose from but we didn't have time and team members to work on another map.
What we learned from this was that making a multiplayer game was not easy and encountered many problems with it. The scope of our game seemed less tasking initially, but after better understand network integration we realized our initial idea for the game was nearly unreachable considering the time frame and manpower. We were able to put something together despite having four people working on it and made something decent.
